Cher
Traendly entered the highly competitive, male-dominated field
of sports photography 28 years ago and became ranked among
the best sports photographers in the world.
Recognized
internationally, her images of athletes on and off the playing
field have appeared on the covers of over 150 magazines and
books. She was the first woman to be listed as a contributing
photographer on the masthead of World Tennis Magazine
and her work has been featured in Sports Illustrated,
Golf Digest, Tennis, Woman’s Sports and
Fitness, and Sport Magazine.
She was also the Photo Editor at Inside Tennis
for many years.
Other
by Jeffrey McCullough, Patty Sheehan on Golf
by Patty Sheehan and Betty Hicks as well as more than 50 books
and newspapers in the USA, England, France, Germany, Japan,
and Australia.
She
has also authored two books, Aphasia Rehabilitation:
A Speech And Language
Workbook and The Woman:
Gay Games III Vancouver, Canada.
In
recent years her photographic attention has expanded to include
nature, family and pet portraiture and the wildlife of Northern
California where her photography studio is located. Her extensive
travels to Africa, New Zealand, Antarctica, Costa Rico, and
the Galapagos Islands have provided further adventures and
many photo opportunities for exotic wildlife.
Recording
on film and now digitally, the unique characteristics and
antics of wildlife, such as hawks and herons, dolphins and
whales, lions, elephants and giraffes, she portrays their beauty,
power and elegance. With her trained eye, she seeks out the
challenge of photographing animals in motion and captures
their essence in the spontaneity of the moment.
Now
she brings her well-honed instinct and craft to the subject
of cats. With her lens she brings into focus both the poignant
and humorous expressions that only a cat can have.
Active
in her community, Cher has often provided a foster home for
felines waiting to be adopted. She is also involved with Community
Action Partnerships, Circle of Sisters (a youth mentoring
program), and Forgotten Felines (dedicated to the humane care
and control of the feral cat population in Sonoma County.)
She is a founding member of Connections: A Forum For Women
In Business, and served on the board as Outreach Director
for 10 years. |
